Widening Out

Once again we were able to sleep in again on Sunday, and then we took the tube to Ealing for their meeting at 1:00. We had made arrangements with Kami, the once we met during Acton RBC and the District Convention. They have a really neat old building, it used to be a schoolhouse. (We heard that when they remodeled a few years ago they numbered all the bricks so that when they put them back up it was the exact same brick in the exact same place as it had been before. -Eric) They have lots of young people in this congregation that we were able to meet. After the meeting we went and did service for an hour, once again in the "mob" fashion. It's really fun to finish off a whole neighborhood with lightning speed. Most of the group then met an Nando's, a European chicken restaurant. They are famous for their Peri-Peri hot sauce, the whole meal was really good. After that we went to one of the pubs with a few of the guys for a drink, and we talked and laughed for another hour. (Which was so much fun. I can't wait til we can do that back home. -Eric) We finally came home around 8, just in time for our new favorite show, Top Gear. If you have a few minutes you must check out the episode about the Smallest Car in the World. After that we watched an old Sherlock Holmes movie, which was strange because we recognized all the street names. After that we went to bed so we could prepare for the jam packed day that was ahead (sarcasm :D)

  1. What a great time guys! I would love to go and watch a TOP GEAR show live when they tape it:

I think the waiting list is like 21 years but why not check to see if you two blokes could get in some way. Call BBC and plead with them for tickets before you fly home after your adventure in England:

    BBC Worldwide Ltd
    Media Centre
    201 Wood Lane
    London

It will be fun to go out with you guy's for a day in service and hear all about the fun of the trip.

Have a safe trip home - ask for BUMPS when you check in, at the gate, and then at the gate if they do not need you, ask since you were willing to give up your seat to help them out, if they could in some way find it in their hearts to move you two up to BIZ class! If no, then ask for the head purser on the flight (the one in charge once the door closes) and see if there is any room for two adventures to move up in "front of the curtain" for the end of a trip of a lifetime (he may say no but he may say yes!)!

  2. We have applied for a few tapings already, unsucessfully so far, but I will definitely try. We will also definitely try the airline stuff, biz class would be so nice for jumping the big puddle. Can't remember if you've been there or not, but we would be interested in Paris advice before friday if you have it :)

  3. Wow! What amazing adventures, just love reading your blog. You guys get to go to Paris too? CRAZY!!! Enjoy. Like probably most people, that is a place I have always wanted to visit.

Question, the food you ate with your hands, the dish from Africa, was that sudza or better known as mealy-meal? It's made from corn. We went to a BBQ when Scott and I were in Zimbabwe and I thought it was mashed potatoes. Thrilled to see "American" food I put a HUGE plate of it on my plate only to find out it was sudza/mealy-meal. While at Bethel we became very accustomed to it and I actually miss it these days, very yummy and full of substance!

Eric, you might not know this but Scott and I had the privilege of sitting at your great-grandfather's table at Bethel in Zimbabwe while we served there. He sat at the head and we, of course, were in the middle, and we enjoyed him so much. We knew something was wrong one morning for morning worship when we got to our table before him. (He was ALWAYS there first) After everyone settled in, an announcement was made that Lester had passed. It broke our hearts. He died a beautiful way though, he was fully dressed, ready for morning worship, holding a cup of tea. We sure missed him. What a wonderful spiritual lineage you have. Enjoy it to the full. It's a privilege you are keeping going! Keep up the good work! You two enjoy the last week you have left abroad and all of us are so proud of the spiritual, fun trip you've made and thank you for sharing with us!!!

    Christian love,

  4. Paris. Do the tower. We did not see it at night but will next year on trip back as we are doing an "open jaw" return via GOT-AMS-GDG-ORD. I hear at night the light show is just tops. During day the view from top is great. Take photo's farther away with tower in background.

Museums are all very very big. You can spend a day in them so if you do go to one block out a few hours and then call it good.

Versailles is fun but it is an hour train ride each way from Paris (very kool on double decker train top level ) but cost extra over day pass and that can take a day just there for the house and land.

This link look like it has lots of info:

There are lots of kool wine tasting spots (still strange to talk about that with you guys but OK over there 'a?!?). What you can do to save EURO's is just go to a local grocery store and check out std table wines. They are only 2-5 EURO's and are just tops as most the basic wines are much better than anything over here. Just sometimes hare to get an opener (check in store before you go or borrow from hotel).

There is an underground beer wine cheese place that is famous that we are thinking about finding this time but can not find any links on the web at the moment. If I do I will let you know but just ask around (keep in mind most French do no like speaking English btw).

You can also get a day pass for all in city bus and rail (tube in your land) and helps you get from a-z much faster on limited time.

I will shout out more if I can think of it. Have fun!

  5. Yeah the African food was really good i thought. Only thing is i think it expands in the stomach a little but dont worry, the wine made any stomach pains go away. Thats really neat Tonya you knew my great-grandfather. I dont think i have ever had the privilege.
Thank you very much for the encouragement and we look forword to seeing you and everyone else soon!
